Telchar’s founder and principal consultant is Jan-Jaap Kramer. JJ, as he is widely known throughout the travel industry, began his career with Dutch airline Martinair, a subsidiary of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. At Martinair, JJ was Credit Card Manager from 2000 till 2011 with responsibility for the security of all eCommerce transactions.
Anti-Fraud Beginnings
As Martinair came under increasing attack from organised fraud gangs in the years 2000, JJ studied their methods and organised the response. He rapidly developed a whole battery of counter-measures, constantly modifying and enhancing them to foil the fraudsters’ evolving threat.
Success over Long Term
By 2007 JJ had reduced the leakage due to fraud to an unprecedented level of less than 0.05% of passenger revenues. He maintained the fraud leakage at that low level till he left Martinair in 2011 to set up Telchar.
